Hey folks, I’m putting my Yamaha YAS-23 alto sax up for sale—this classic student model that’s been a favorite among teachers and beginners for ages. It’s built tough, tunes great across the board, and just works reliably every time you pick it up.
The horn’s in really solid shape for something used—there are the usual light scratches and scuffs from normal playing on the body and keys, but no dents, no big dings, nothing major at all. It still looks good and has that nice shiny Yamaha lacquer finish showing through.
It just came back from a full pro service and overhaul, so everything’s in top mechanical shape: perfect pad seals, fresh corks, snappy springs, and super smooth key action from low Bb all the way to high F#. The intonation is dead-on and consistent, and it delivers that classic Yamaha sound—warm lows, even mids, and bright, projecting highs. Super responsive, easy to play, and it handles jazz, concert band, classical, or everyday practice without any hassle.
If you’re looking for one of these legendary YAS-23s that plays like a champ but doesn’t cost what a brand-new one would, and you’re okay with some honest cosmetic wear on a horn that’s otherwise in fantastic playing condition, this is a great deal. These Japanese-built tanks are made to last forever, and this one’s got plenty of life left in it.
It includes the original Yamaha case (which is holding up well), plus a mouthpiece and a factory-sealed pack of 10 fresh reeds so you’re ready to jump right in when it arrives.
Got any questions? Just shoot me a message—thanks for checking it out!
